Arriving in Kyrgyzstan

Most independent travellers arrive overland from Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, or less commonly China or Tajikistan.

From Kazakhstan

Multiple crossings including Korday (near Bishkek) and Karkara/Kegen (Almaty-Karakol route). Many nationalities get visa-free entry. Verify current border status before travelling.

From Uzbekistan

Common crossings near Osh. Check visa requirements—some nationalities need advance e-visa for Uzbekistan.

From China

Torugart and Irkeshtam passes. These require careful planning, and Chinese visa policies change frequently. Research current procedures well in advance.

⚠️ Border procedures, visa requirements, and crossing hours change. Always verify current rules through official sources or recent traveller reports close to your departure date. Do not rely on this page alone for visa or entry decisions.

A comprehensive border crossings hub with detailed procedures and recent updates is planned. Check the pre-arrival checklist for current visa and entry information.
